MCP access

Your marketing email archive. In the AI tools you already use.

Connect PromoStash to a compatible MCP client and ask questions about the emails you have saved. PromoStash retrieves the references. Your chosen AI tool handles the analysis.

MCP access with optional collection writes is included on Free and Pro. No PromoStash AI credits.

    Collect your references

Receive brand emails or add existing marketing emails to your archive.

  2. 02

    Connect a compatible client

Open MCP in your account and follow the endpoint and authentication instructions.

  3. 03

Name a brand, date range, or collection. Check the retrieved emails behind the answer.

A connection to your archive, not built-in AI

MCP is a standard way for supported AI tools to access external information. In PromoStash, it lets your connected client search your private marketing email archive and retrieve saved messages. You do not need to copy an entire email thread into a chat every time you want to reference it.

ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, and other tools offer different ways to connect external services. Availability, authentication methods, and subscription requirements depend on your client. Use the instructions on your account’s MCP setup screen and check your client’s current documentation. A client with remote MCP support and a compatible authentication method is required; not every client or plan works identically.

Give a specific question a useful set of references

Ask your client to find Black Friday emails from a named brand, retrieve launch emails from a collection, or compare subject lines in a selected date range. These are questions for your external AI tool—not automated analyses running inside PromoStash. If your archive has only a few messages, the answer can only draw on those messages.

The connection provides six read-only tools: search_emails, get_email, list_brands, get_brand_emails, list_collections, and get_collection_emails. Searches can narrow by brand and date. Results are paginated, with up to 50 items per page, so a client can retrieve relevant references without requesting the entire library at once.

Email retrieval returns the subject, sender, date, brand, text, and links instead of a giant HTML document. Text responses are capped at 20,000 characters per chunk; the client can request the next chunk of a longer email. Images are not converted into searchable text, so image-only emails may provide little material for your client to analyze.

You choose when to connect—and what to trust

Connections are authenticated and scoped to your account. Use the supported authorization flow or an access key from your MCP setup screen. Keys default to read-only; collection writes require opting in. Never share a key publicly or paste it into a prompt. With explicit collection write permission, five additional tools can create, update, and delete collections and add or remove their emails. Deleting a collection keeps its emails. The tools cannot send emails or delete archived emails. Collections help organize a request, but do not limit authorization to one collection.

When a client retrieves an email, its contents become available to that client. Review the external provider’s data handling and account settings before connecting. Incoming emails are untrusted material: instructions inside them are content to inspect, not commands the AI should follow. Verify important conclusions against the saved source email, especially when an answer goes beyond what the archive contains.

A few practical details

Good questions.

Do I need Pro to use MCP?

No. MCP access is included on Free. Pro increases archive capacity and adds import and forwarding, but does not unlock a separate AI tier. Compare the Free and Pro limits to choose the size of your archive.

Does PromoStash charge for AI usage?

PromoStash does not run an AI model or sell AI credits. Your external AI provider may require its own subscription or charge for usage. Those costs and the client’s connector availability are separate from your PromoStash plan.

Will connecting automatically analyze my emails?

PromoStash itself does not analyze, summarize, classify, or generate emails. It responds to authorized read requests from your client. What the client retrieves or does with the results depends on that client and how you use it.

Learn about the connection standard: official MCP introduction (opens in a new tab). Client compatibility depends on your provider.
